With balantia, you can log your meals quickly and easily using a photo or your voice, without having to search for each food individually. The AI assistant identifies what you've eaten and estimates its nutritional value.
How to log a meal with AI
On the Log screen, tap the + next to the meal you want to log and select “Scan Meal”.
You can take a photo using either of the following options:
“Food”: Take a photo of your meal or food. The AI assistant identifies the foods in the image and estimates their portions, calories, and nutrients.
“Label”: Take a photo of a product's nutrition label. The AI assistant reads the nutritional information, so you don't have to enter it manually.
Voice logging
Instead of typing or photographing your meal, you can select “Voice Logging” and simply describe what you ate.
The AI assistant processes your description and estimates the calories and nutrients in the foods you mentioned.
Barcode scanning
For packaged products, you can also select “Scan Barcode” and scan the barcode on the packaging.
If the product is available in the database, its nutritional information will appear, allowing you to select the amount you consumed and log it.
Reviewing and adjusting your results
AI food recognition provides an estimate and may not accurately identify every ingredient or portion size in a meal.
Before completing your entry, review the results and make any necessary adjustments to better reflect what you actually ate.
When scanning a nutrition label, pay particular attention to the units of measurement and whether the values are listed per 100 g or per serving.
Where are your entries saved?
Foods created through AI logging are saved under “My Foods”, so you can easily find and reuse them without taking another photo or recording another voice description.
How accurate is AI food logging?
Accuracy depends on the quality of the photo or your description, the type of meal, and how easily the ingredients and portions can be identified.
For example, AI may have difficulty identifying hidden ingredients, added oils, sauces, or the exact cooking method.
AI food logging makes tracking your nutrition faster and more convenient, but reviewing the results is still important for a more reliable estimate of your nutritional intake.
